Frequently Asked Questions
An Emergency Notification is sent as soon as the department confirms that there is a significant emergency or dangerous situation involving an immediate threat to the health or safety of students or employees on campus.
A Timely Warning is sent when a Clery-reportable crime has occurred on campus, on certain adjacent public property, or at qualifying off-campus locations, and the crime represents a serious or continuing threat to students and employees. Timely Warnings are issued as soon as pertinent information is available, after the institution has assessed the incident and determined that a continuing threat exists.
Emergency Notifications are sent to the campus community, including students, faculty, and staff, along with members of the public who have either joined the Emergency Notification System or installed a mobile safety app and chosen to receive the notifications.
Emergency alert notifications are sent to provide timely and reliable information during emergencies. If you did not receive an emergency alert, please verify that your contact information is up to date in Workday (faculty and staff) or in your institution’s student portal or admission application (students), such as MyUNLV, MyCSN, or MyNevadaState.
To help ensure you receive emergency notifications, keep your mobile phone number up to date in Workday (employees) or your NSHE institution admission application (students), and enable notifications in your campus safety app.
